The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure About Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
