Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
